![]() ![]() Arnold decides that he is more than just his skin color, but rather a person who belongs to many different tribes (31-34). Towards the end of the book, A rnold realizes he is a boy from many tribes. On the reservation he is bullied and picked on, while at Reardan he earns respect and decides to be somebody. One of the major conflicts that Arnold faces in this book is between his "part-time Indian" self at in Wellpinit, where he is known as Junior, and his Reardan self, Arnold. Arnold's perseverance is key to his survival throughout the novel. He is a fighter and has hope and persistence. He is an artist and expresses himself through his words and drawings. Thankfully, Arnold is thought of differently in Reardan.Īrnold has many unique characteristics. He is picked on and bullied for being different than the others on the reservation. This also means that he is at risk of brain damage and seizures. But, it turns out that he's one of the best players on the team. Arnold is also a hydrocephalic, meaning he was born with "water on the brain" (1). ![]() ![]() In the story, he thinks that he's just an average basketball player, possibly below average. He has a big head, big feet and hands, but a skinny body. ![]() Arnold Spirit Junior is the main character of the story, and the narrator. ![]()
